Truckee Fire Board: McThorn Leads Rintala by 41 in Placer Precincts

TRUCKEE, Placer County — November 4, 2026. A 41-vote gap separates Joey McThorn and Roger Rintala for third position in the Placer County portion of the Truckee Fire Protection District election.

Candidate counts

Placer precincts: Laura Brown 401, Mike “Spoon” Witherspoon 231, Joey McThorn 218, Roger Rintala 177 and Nathan Preston Golden 101.

Why these results matter

The election fills three seats, but Truckee crosses into Nevada County. These figures cover Placer County precincts only. They must not be treated as the districtwide candidate ranking, final margin or certified outcome without checking Nevada County’s separate return.

Counting status

The source is the Placer County Elections election-night semi-official report, printed at 12:16 a.m. Pacific on November 4, 2026. All assigned election-night precincts are shown as reported, but further eligible ballots may be processed before the county certifies its returns. These figures should not be presented as a new November 5 count, and a reported leading candidate has not necessarily won the final election.
